The Future of Healthcare

iStock_000005034683XSmallAs we begin the New Year, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to bring to light the projected job outlook and necessity for workers in the healthcare field. According to the United States Department of Labor, the healthcare field is expected to hold nine of the top thirty occupations with the largest employment growth for 2008-2018. With such high expectations for the healthcare field, if you are currently researching a new career, check out the opportunities for success available to you.

Registered Nurses, home health aides, nursing aides and licensed vocational nurses are among four of the top healthcare career choices. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the expected population of people who are 65 and older is expected to double before 2025. This means that qualified nurses will be in high demand to accommodate the increased healthcare needs of the older population.

On top of nurses, medical assistants are also expected to see an increase in job opportunities. The overall impact of an elderly population is a radical increase in medical office visits. With increased office visits, medical billing paperwork will also increase, creating a demand for trained medical billers and receptionists.

If you are thinking about a career change, healthcare could be the right field for you. Check out my previous blog, A Year in Review, which highlights some of this past year’s most interesting topics in healthcare!

Good Luck,

T-Foley
