Balancing Work and School
I am currently experiencing an emotional rollercoaster. Summer is almost over and I am just beginning to prepare for the upcoming school year. As exciting as it is to continue with my nursing education, I am quickly remembering all of the expenses that go along with each semester. Luckily I have been working all summer and saving money. With the cost of books around $400.00 and a commuter-parking sticker that costs $148.00, I am again reminded that getting an education is expensive!
From my experience, it is easier to balance school and work if your boss knows what your schedule is. If you plan to continue working while in school, you should take the opportunity to sit down with your boss now and arrange a schedule that will still allow you plenty of study time. Try to work enough to live off of, but not so much that your grades are impacted. I used to put more on my plate than I could handle. Once I reevaluated my situation and only worked the hours that I could handle my GPA saw drastic improvements.
I wish you the best of luck as you begin your school year. And remember that finding a balance between your job and your schoolwork is the key to your success!
