Another School Year Begins

Student Nurse

I am always amazed to see how fast time moves, just when you want it to slow down! Summer is officially over and with less than a week before school starts my nerves are in full gear. Not only am I starting another semester of nursing school, I am also going to be juggling honors program classes and an education minor. Nursing school can be difficult without those extras, but I am determined to achieve the goals I have set for myself. I’m sure many of you understand the challenges that can come along with nursing school, and I wish you all luck as the new school year begins!

For those of you who are beginning the journey now, I will offer you some advice. If nursing is your dream, then achieve it! I am working hard toward reaching my goals, and it will be worth it in the end. Nursing school means that you may have to pass up some of the activities that many of your friends seem to always have time for. Don’t give up on your education because it is hard! And don’t give up because your social life may seem a bit deficient while you adjust to college life. In the end a career as a nurse will provide job stability and flexibility for you and your family.

And for those of you who haven’t started school yet but are interested, try to explore the field in advance and then apply. Before I set foot in nursing school I was certified as a CNA. This helped me explore direct patient care and get experience with what a nursing career would be like. With the cost of education on the rise it is best to see if the career is right for you, before you spend the rest of your life regretting your decision.

I look forward to updating you on my nursing school career as I progress!
